Dato Timothy Ong

Dato Timothy is Founder and Chairman of Asia Inc Forum, a regional platform for policy and business dialogue.

He is a member of a number of leading Brunei and regional boards including the Baiduri Bank Group, Hotel Associates, National Insurance Company and the Asian Advisory Board of Prudential Financial. He is a Governor of the Asian Institute of Management and a Trustee of the Ramon Magsaysay Awards Foundation.

 

Dato Timothy chaired the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) from 2003 to 2010 and is a significant business voice in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC). He represented Brunei in the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) from 1996 to 2004 and was the ABAC Chair in 2000. He was a member of the APEC Eminent Persons Group (EPG) from 1993 to 1995 and is a key advisor to the annual APEC CEO Summit including when the Summit convened in the United States (2011), in Indonesia (2013), in China (2014) and in the Philippines (2015).

 

He is the Chairman of the Asian Forum for Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR) since 2013. He is also the founder and convener of the ASEAN 100 Leadership Forum, a platform for emergent leadership within the ASEAN region.

Dato Timothy is the recipient of various honors, including the Most Honorable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei (DPMB) by His Majesty, the Sultan of Brunei, which confers the title 'Dato Paduka' and the Grand Cross of the Order of Bernardo O'Higgins (Chile’s highest civilian award) by the President of Chile. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Regional Business Leadership from the World Chinese Economic Summit in 2015.

 

He was educated in Brunei, Australia and Britain. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Economics and Political Science from the Australian National University (ANU) and a Master of Science (with Distinction) degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE).

Suraj Moraje

Suraj manages the McKinsey Manila office, where he helps private and public sector institutions develop into local and global champions. Suraj brings his clients a truly global perspective, having spent 15 years as a management counsellor prior to moving to the Philippines. He has previously been based in India, Belgium, and South Africa. Since joining the Firm, Suraj has worked across multiple industries including telecoms, media, energy, banking, and manufacturing.

 

Suraj is passionate about working with clients over a sustained period of time, to achieve lasting impact from conceptualisation to implementation. Examples of his recent work include delivering an immediate EBITDA upswing at a regional telecoms company through pricing, analytical marketing, and distribution transformation initiatives. He also led a 2-year program to help a large company capture over USD 1 billion savings in their procured spend.

 

Suraj is passionate about the potential of technology and the Internet to transform the quality of life in emerging markets, and has helped several clients and countries think through their approach to drive economic growth via the Internet. He is also passionate about helping create bold leaders for tomorrow.

 

Prior to joining McKinsey, Suraj received his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad and his Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Regional College of Engineering and Technology, in Surat, India.

Vince Yamat

Vince Yamat has had more than 15 years of experience in the IT and Marketing industry as a Senior Management executive. He has been with Globe Telecom since 2010, first as General Manager of its subsidiary, Entertainment Gateway, and later as Head of its Product Management and Innovation teams. Prior to Globe, he was CEO of mobile and entertainment company Feedtext Inc. in San Francisco, CEO of its development arm Singapore, Country Business Manager of Multimedia for Nokia, Director for Information Gateway, and held various positions in PLDT's Infocom. A graduate of De La Salle University, Mr. Yamat received his MBA from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, and attended courses in Project and Business Management at the United Kingdom Telecommunications Academy, and in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
